Hyatt Place Boise/Downtown

Every Hyatt staff we engaged with were so kind and helpful. We had only planned on staying for 1 night but ran into unexpected car trouble. So, the staff graciously extended our check out time till we had to stay for a second night. Then they automatically extended our check-out time the very next day which made us feel like someone cares and is keeping an eye on our situation. Thank you all for making us feel at home and safe at the Hyatt. Happy New Year 2024 to each and everyone of you. May this year be a profitable one for you all.

Receptionist told us our room would be ready in an hour, then tried to move us to a smaller room for the same price. We gratefully declined and went to walk around while they prepped the room. Came back two hours later and nothing had been done to the room, and we were told to wait another hour or two with no real prediction. Might I add the lobby is completely empty and as far as I can tell there is only one other guest here. Not life ending but annoying and a pain to be asked to kill four hours of time without productivity on their part. Stay tuned; will edit if stay gets any better… Update: we were put in a room an hour later, but the room lacked specific features in the description we had booked, so we called down to ask if there had been a mistake. They “discovered” we were not actually placed in a suite but in an ADA room on the same floor, since the suites were all booked. Turns out those rooms go for 25% less and we’re owed a refund. What a nice “discovery.” We truly don’t mind the inconvenience and the room is fine, but the fact we weren’t refunded the difference automatically shows they were hoping we wouldn’t notice and is shady as heck.

We really loved our stay at this new hotel. The room and property were very clean and felt new and modern. All the staff were polite and helpful. The pool was a little small but we loved the hot jacuzzi! And the gym space was nice too. We booked a “pet friendly” hotel thru priceline so there was confusion after I called and the front desk said “no cats”. We had to call priceline to speak to the hotel to allow our cat which was initially frustrating and then the manager said we had to keep the cat in the carrier at all times? That is not do-able so we felt like we might get kicked out if housekeeping found our free roaming cat in our room. Not fun. Also for their pet relief space: there was an area in the parking lot with a poo bag dispenser that seemed like they intended it to be a dog relief area but it was all landscaping rocks (the very sharp kind) which I imagine is super hard for dogs to walk on. There were no grassy or even dirt areas nearby the hotel so we had to walk our dog blocks away to find a dirt patch because she wouldn’t go on the parking lot pavement or landscaping rocks. This property could definitely work on their “pet friendly” stuff but we loved everything else about this property including the free breakfast buffet that included lots of options from a cereal bar to scrambled eggs bacon toast oatmeal and even gluten free muffins.

Our feet, and our children's feet was covered in what looked like "carpet fresh." It was white, powdery substance. We had everyone shower before leaving to be sure they didn't carry the chemical with them during our drive home. During my shower I noticed the triangle low tile (a tile shelf the non-slip pad was on) was very slimy. Additionally, there was a significant amount of mold/mildew visible on the end of the shower closest to the showerhead. Before chdckout I placed all towels within the bathroom (used and unused alike) into a pile. During this action, I noticed one of the hand towels I removed from the hanging towel rod contained a significant amount of what looked like foundation makeup. This towel was hidden behind a washcloth, not used by anyone in my family (thank goodness! Very disgusting!) We chose a Hyatt with the expectation that we would not have "budget hotel" issues, and walked out feeling like we just got scammed! We paid $350 for ONE night at a hotel that was comparable to a Motel 6. Do not recommend.
